Scorsese shoots Stones

Martin Scorsese is to film a documentary about The Rolling Stones in New York later this month.

Hot on the heels of the release of Martin Scorsese's brilliant 'The Departed' on Friday, the legendary director has announced plans to work on a documentary about The Rolling Stones.

Scorsese will shoot the band's gigs at New York's Beacon Theatre from October 29 to 31, although it's not yet clear whether the documentary will simply be a concert film or a retrospective of their entire career.

It won't be the first time that Scorsese has dipped his toe in musical waters however, having worked on the Woodstock movie and directed 'The Last Waltz' and my favourite film of last year, Bob Dylan documentary 'No Direction Home'.

Whatever the shoot turns out to be, any Scorsese release is a major event, so we'll have more news on this one as and when it breaks.
