Howard hustles his way into 'Iron Man'
'Hustle & Flow' star Terrence Howard will star opposite Robert Downey Jr in the comic book adaptation.
Oct 10 2006
No sooner has Robert Downey Jr been announced as playing the title character in the big screen version of comic book classic 'Iron Man', than Paramount have revealed who will play his fighter pilot best friend Jim 'Rhodey' Rhodes.
And it's none other than Terrence Howard, the Oscar nominated star of 'Hustle & Flow', who hits UK screens this week in the OutKast musical 'Idlewild'.
Speaking of the decision, Marvel Studios' president of production Kevin Feige said 'The richness of the role and complexity of the character seemed to mesh perfectly with the type of passion, energy and emotion that Howard brings to all of his projects.'
As for our opinion, consider The TOMB's interest suitably piqued. After all, they're both fine actors who've avoided the dumb blockbuster route thus far, so their participation suggests that 'Iron Man' might not be the average, run-of-the-mill summer pic.
Director Jon Favreau starts work on the film next February, with the 'Iron Man' scheduled to open worldwide on May 2, 2008.

- when will hollywood learn that the best actors to play movie super heroes are the virtually unknown. for example bat man, chrtian bale owns that role. another example, dare devil; fizzled because the star was to well known, that also takes away the illusion of the heroes secret identity. - Please do not let him have the voice of a thug. The comics I grew up with was a true friend and not a Hustle. I hope he does well but I would have to see them toghter first. Posted on Oct 10 2006 18:50
