Made in Italy: Seen at Harrods

It seems you really can get everything at Harrods these days. Now even cinema lovers can try before they buy.

Oct 13 2004

Now even cinema lovers can try before they buy. As part of their Made in Italy promotion, Harrods have opened Cinema Italia in order to showcase their Italian-made or themed DVDs. Until October 30 you can pay £3 to attend a daily screening in an in-store boutique cinema. Then, if you like the film, you can recoup the price of your ticket when you buy the DVD or video (or another one in the promotion).

To create the ultimate in authenticity, the room has been dressed in the style of a 1950s cinema, with plush red velvet seating, a large screen and Morelli Italian ice cream on sale. Plus, when the film’s not showing, you can view a mini exhibition of related vintage film posters and stills, which are on display in the cinema.

The series includes a diverse selection of films, both old and contemporary classics, including Stanley Kubrick's Spartacus to Roberto Benigni's Life is Beautiful.

Screenings are being held on Mon-Sat at 3pm. Tickets can be purchased from Sound & Vision on the third floor, or by calling 020 893 8974.
