Bizarre addition to 'Rush Hour 3' cast
A very famous director joins Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in the action sequel.
Oct 27 2006
The sequel that nobody wanted has now got an actor that no one expected. In a deeply strange piece of casting news, Roman Polanski will join Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan in 'Rush Hour 3'.
The Oscar-winning director will play a French police officer who harasses the mismatched cops as they take on a group of Chinese gangsters.
Speaking to Variety, 'Rush Hour' helmer Brett Ratner said that he bumped into Polanski while doing pre-production in Paris. 'Roman is my favourite director and my favourite actor,' he explained. 'So I asked [screenwriter] Jeff Nathanson to write him into the movie.'
The role will be Polanski's first in a Hollywood pic since he played the unforgettable 'man with knife' in 'Chinatown' in 1974, but in spite of his presence, I'll still be avoiding this one like the plague!
