RESFEST rolls into town
The superb showcase for new filmmaking talent will be at the NFT from November 14 to 19.
Nov 8 2006
RESFEST, the globetrotting celluloid carnival that presents the very best in innovative film, music, art, design, fashion, culture and technology, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a residency at London's National Film Theatre.
From November 14 to 19, the NFT will host special screenings of features, shorts, music videos and the like, made by visionary filmmakers who are revolutionising the language of cinema.
The festival will feature the London premiere of three eagerly anticipated features – superhero satire 'Special', intense horror 'Them' and Terry Zwigoff's eagerly anticipated follow-up to 'Ghost World', 'Art School Confidential'.
RESFEST isn't just about big pictures however, with shorts playing a prominent role in the programme. Of particular interest is 'Shorts One: State of the Art' which features films that mix live action, animation, motion graphics and documentary, including Chris Shepherd's 'Silence is Golden', which recently won the TCM/LFF best short award.
And for the socially conscious out there, November 19 is 'Everything Under the Sun-Day', a celebration of issues-based films that tackle everything from the fragility of the environment and stem cell research to nuclear proliferation and anti-globalisation. Highlights include the 'Everything Under the Sun: Filmmaking with a Purpose' series of shorts and 'Radiohead, The Visionaries: A Decade of Breaking New Talent', which celebrates the band's highly distinctive body of film work.
For more details of these films and everything else playing at the festival, head to the official site at www.resfest.co.uk.
