Dec 5 2006
Jonathan Demme is currently working on a documentary about Jimmy Carter entitled 'He Comes in Peace'.
The film follows the former President as he takes part in a book tour across America to publicise his new tome, 'Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid'.
Participant Productions is behind the project, and much like their Al Gore doc 'An Inconvenient Truth', the film features Carter speaking about the problems in the Middle East while also discussing his own personal philosophies.
'The President's book tour occurs at a crossroads where the world of religion intersects with global politics' Demme said. 'This picture is just an extraordinary honour for me. I loved Carter when he was President, and I've loved him more and more since he left office. He makes me feel so proud to be an American.'
Production started at the Carters' home in Plains Georgia on November 11.

It should be recognized that anti-Semitism exists on both ends of the spectrum: among those who support Israel for politco-religious reasons and those who oppose it for politico-religious reasons.
Noam Chomsky, among others, has written about the anti-Semitic roots of a great many prominent Zionist evangelical-Christian figures (including the recently deceased Jerry Falwell).
I think anti-Semites who criticize Israel on racist grounds are much farther and fewer between. Posted on May 24 2007 07:12 - Report as inappropriate

- I wonder if we can ever have a discussion on Israel without anti-Semitism creeping into it. Mr. Vicuna's statement about "Israel" controlling America is precisely the kind of statement that is anti-Semitic. It is not true on the facts, and it is quite simply a re-statement of the infamous "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" that purports to be the minutes of some secret Jewish society that is plotting to control the world's governments. Is it possible to discuss the Middle East without lapsing into ancient prejudices and stereotypes? What Mr. Vacuna doesn't realize is his anti-Semitic expressions are what made Israel as a safe haven for Jews necessary in the first place. Posted on Jan 25 2007 19:36

I am surprised that an American politician has the guts to write candidly about the country that control America.
I salute Mr. Carter. Posted on Dec 06 2006 08:01 - Report as inappropriate
