Almodóvar and Cruz are at it again

'Volver' collaborators Pedro Almodóvar and Penelope Cruz are set to re-team on a new drama.

Dec  5 2006

We're currently hard at work compiling our year-end 'best of' poll, and 'Volver' has proven popular with practically everyone here at Time Out Towers, so we're pleased to hear that the film's director and star are set to re-team.

Speaking at the European Film Awards in Warsaw, Pedro Almodóvar said that 'La piel que habito' ('The Skin I Live In') could be his next project, with Penelope Cruz to star.

Loosely based on Thierry Jonquet's 1995 novel 'Mygale', the film will revolve around a plastic surgeon taking vengeance on the men who raped his children.

Almodóvar, who is currently working on the screenplay, told Spanish newspaper El Pais 'It's a very tough story about revenge. It has nothing to do with 'Volver' or my life.'

He added 'It's immensely tough and complicated, targeted at select audiences, the kind of film that's discomforting and doesn't tend to win any awards.'
