Believe it or not, Ripley is back

Paramount resurrect the Jim Carrey/Tim Burton comedy.

Dec 18 2006

Just over a year ago, we announced plans for Tim Burton and Jim Carrey to collaborate on high-concept comedy 'Ripley's Believe it or Not'.

Based on the life and times of explorer Robert Ripley, the project soon fell apart due to concerns over the script, with Burton jumping ship to work on forthcoming musical 'Sweeny Todd'.

Today however, Paramount announced plans to resurrect the project by asking Steve Oedekerk ('Ace Ventura - When Nature Calls') to rewrite the script, turning both comedy and humour up several notches.

And believe it or not, Burton and Carrey still plan to direct and star, with production set to start in China in 2008 for a 2009 release. More news on this one as and when it breaks.
