The return of Indiana Jones confirmed

Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are set to start work on a new Indy pic this June.

Jan  2 2007

It's time for 64-year-old Harrison Ford to dig out that fedora, dust down his bull-whip and step back into the battered shoes of Indiana Jones, as George Lucas has confirmed rumours that the world's favourite adventurer archaeologist will be back on screens in May 2008.

The film will be Steven Spielberg's next directorial outing, with production set to start in June. Frank Marshall will again produce, with Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy executive producing.

'Working with Steven, Frank, Kathy and the Indy crew is like working with family' Lucas explained. 'These films are such great fun to make. I'm looking forward to reuniting with the team and starting this new journey.'

Adding his two cents worth, Spielberg said 'George, Harrison and I are all very excited. We feel that the script was well worth the wait. We hope that it delivers everything you'd expect from our history with Indiana Jones.'

That script is by David Koepp, who previously worked with Spielberg on the likes of 'War of the Worlds' and 'Jurassic Park', although plot details are currently being kept closely under wraps. As for a title, our suggestion of 'Indiana Jones and the Zimmer frame of Doom' has been all but ignored thus far, but when something is announced, we'll have news of it here.
