'Night at the museum' claims top spot in London
'Perfume' is no match for Ben Stiller's mugging at the box office.
Jan 3 2007
'Night at the Museum' is 2007's first box office smash, and one can only think that there were lots of parents desperate for something to do with their kids over the new year as this noisy mess of a movie really doesn't deserve to occupy the top spot in London.
That particular honour should have gone to Tom Tykwer's mesmerising movie adaptation of 'Perfume', which nevertheless came straight in at number three with a respectable £65,207 haul.
Elsewhere, 'The Holiday' took a hefty tumble from one to four, while the brilliant 'Pan's Labyrinth' actually rose a spot after six weeks on release, climbing from eight to seven.
Finally, it looks like we might have to say goodbye to the moustachioed man from Kazakhstan, as 'Borat' has finally fallen to ten. He's had a good innings however, tickling funny bones throughout London for the past nine weeks.
Next time around, it should be a head-on battle between 'Miss Potter' and 'Apocalypto', with the smart money on the Mayans.
