'The Mummy 3' in the works
Yes, you heard it right, Universal are actually considering making a sequel to 'The Mummy Returns'.
Jan 10 2007
Insignificant titbit of film news here, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention anyway - director Rob Cohen is apparently in talks with Universal Pictures about resurrecting 'The Mummy' franchise.
'The Mummy 3' has apparently been in development for a year, with Alfred Gough and Miles Millar working on a script and Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz both considering taking part in the sequel.
As 'The Mummy' was deeply average and 'The Mummy Returns' just plain rubbish, one wonders why they'd want to make a third film for the man whose directing CV includes 'The Skulls' and last year's big budget mega-turkey 'Stealth'.
Whatever they decide, 'The Mummy 3' is slated for a summer 2008 release, and I for one won't be going to see it.

- I loved both of The Mummy films - pure boy's own escapism. They had the right feel for the period and the cast was perfect. The special effects were great and the films just flew by. The humour was in all the right places and was just right. I look forward eagerly to The Mummy 3. Posted on Jan 11 2007 11:26
