Rock and Stamp 'Get Smart'
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Terence Stamp will star opposite Steve Carell in the spy spoof.
Jan 17 2007
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Terence Stamp have joined the cast of forthcoming action comedy 'Get Smart', which will start shooting in LA, Washington and Moscow next month.
Based on the 1960s spoof spy series of the same name, 'Get Smart' stars Steve Carell as bungling secret agent Max Smart, who works for government agency CONTROL to fight the evil forces of KAOS.
The Rock will play a newly created character called Agent 23, while Stamp will play the dastardly boss of KAOS.
Peter Segal ('The Longest Yard', 'Anger Management') will direct the flick, which will be contemporised while at the same time retaining many of the original show's features, such as the shoe phone and the classic cars driven by Smart.
'What made the original unique was that it took place in the Cold war era and skewered the political landscape', Segal explains. 'We're trying to embrace that spirit, and there is certainly a lot to skewer politically today.'
