Pacino tackles Dali

Al Pacino will play Salvador Dali in a biopic of the surrealist painter.

Jan 19 2007

Al Pacino has signed up to star in a biopic of legendary artist Salvador Dali entitled 'Dali & I: The Surreal Story'.

Based on art dealer Stan Lauryssen's book of the same name, the film will depict the painter's life from 1960 to 1980, when he became increasingly eccentric and his striking work became increasingly surreal. It will also focus on the teacher-student relationship between Dali and Lauryssen.

Andrew Niccol ('Gattaca', 'Lord of War') will direct the flick, which shoots in New York and Spain in June.
