Weinsteins try the 'Dirty Step Stomp'

The Weinstein Co. has snapped up the rights to a new dance spoof.

Feb  7 2007

Following the inexplicable success of spoof flicks 'Scary Movie' and 'Epic Movie', the Weinstein brothers have snapped up the rights to dance parody 'Dirty Step Stomp'.

Written by Steve Basilone and Annie Mebane, the film will spoof the likes of 'Dirty Dancing', 'Save the Last Dance', 'Step Up' and 'Stomp the Yard'.

Sounds like a definite dud to us, but the fact that writers Basilone and Mebane recently wrote a play entitled 'Bill Pullman Hates You' bodes well for the project.
