Hillcoat hits 'The Road'
John Hillcoat will follow-up 'The Proposition' with an adaptation of post-apocalyptic thriller 'The Road'.
Apr 2 2007
John Hillcoat has been signed up to direct an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's post-apocalyptic novel 'The Road'.
The director, whose last film was the brilliant, underrated 'The Proposition', will work from a script by 'Enduring Love' screenwriter Joe Penhall.
The plot, which sounds similar to Eli Roth's forthcoming adaptation of Stephen King's 'Cell', focuses on a nuclear explosion and a father fighting packs of cannibals as he tries to take his son to safety.
There's no word regarding who will play father or son however, because as producer Nick Wechsler put it, 'It's really about casting and making sure we get a script that satisfies the vision expressed by Cormac in the book'.
