Ben Whishaw is a 'Bright Star'

The 'Perfume' star is set to play poet Keats in Jane Campion's forthcoming biopic.

Apr  4 2007

At last year's Cannes, Jane Campion revealed plans to shoot a film version of the life of poet John Keats entitled 'Bright Star'. Since then we've heard nothing else about the project, until today that is.

Pathe International has announced that 'Perfume' star Ben Whishaw is in final negotiations to play the 19th Century poet, who died of tuberculosis at the age of 25.

Abbie Cornish has already been cast as the love of Keats' life Fanny Brawne, with the film set to focus on their brief but intense romance.

'Bright Star' is set to shoot in late summer or early autumn.
