Ejiofor dons 'Redbelt'

The always excellent Chiwetel Ejiofor will star in an American samurai film for writer-director David Mamet.

Whether his movies fail or succeed, it's always worth watching a David Mamet film, if only for the hard-boiled dialogue and unpredictable nature of his scripts. It's therefore good news to hear that the writer-director is about to start work on a new project, and even better news that it will be an American samurai flick.

Entitled 'Redbelt', the film will star Chiwetel Ejiofor as a Jiu-Jitsu master who has walked away from competitive fighting in favour of setting up his own self-defence studio. When a group of corrupt promoters and movie stars con him however, he is forced back into the ring to regain his honour.

Mamet and Ejiofor? Con games and samurais? Sounds like a winner to us, and with the film shooting in LA next month, expect 'Redbelt' to be one of the more interesting flicks to be released early next year.
