The makers of forthcoming superhero sequel 'The Incredible Hulk' have spent the last few months claiming that the film will be less sombre than Ang Lee's original 'Hulk', so we're surprised to hear that super serious thesp Edward Norton will be taking over from Eric Bana in the lead.
The actor, better known for earnest fare like 'Down in the Valley' and 'American History X' than CGI-heavy kids flicks, has nevertheless signed up to play Bruce Banner, the mild-mannered scientist who turns into a hulking green ball of rage when peeved.
Laurence Leterrier ('The Transporter 2', 'Unleashed') will direct the pic based on Zak Penn's script, and Marvel Studios' production president Kevin Feige said the company couldn't be happier with the way the project is coming together.
'Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business,' he said in a statement. 'His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the big screen in a new and exciting way.'
'The Incredible Hulk' will shoot in Toronto this summer so the big fella' can do battle with the likes of 'Iron Man', 'Batman', 'Hellboy' and 'Indiana Jones' at the box office next year.
