Murphy travels to 'Fantasy Island'
Eddie Murphy is to take on multiple roles in a film version of the popular TV series.
May 10 2007
When used in conjunction with each other, the words 'Eddie Murphy' and 'family comedy' usually make me feel quite nauseous, so I'm in a bad way this morning following the announcement that Eddie Murphy is to star in family comedy 'Fantasy Island' later this year.
The film will be a remake of the inexplicably popular 1970s TV show which starred Ricardo Montalban and Hervé Villechaize and was set on a sun-drenched island resort where dreams come true.
As usual Murphy will play multiple roles in the film, which conjures up all sorts of gruesome images of a pocket-sized CG version of the actor running round an island shouting 'the plane, the plane'.
With Jay Scherick and David Ronn, who most recently collaborated with Murphy on the abhorrent 'Norbit', currently writing the script, expectations really couldn't be lower for this one.
