Harry Potter-land coming soon

'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter' theme park is set to open at Universal's Island of Adventure in 2009.

May 31 2007

Ever wanted to visit the village of Hogsmeade? Or explore the mysterious Forbidden Forest? Or maybe you'd rather just sink a few pints at The Leaky Cauldron. Well if you head to Orlando in a couple of years you'll get just that chance as Warner Bros have announced plans to open a Harry Potter theme park in 2009.

'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter', situated on Universal's Island of Adventure, will give visitors the opportunity to ride on immersive and interactive attractions and visit shops and restaurants featuring magical fare from the films.

'Over the years we've received thousands of letters from fans around the world wishing they could visit Hogwarts and the wonderful locations described in each of JK Rowling's beloved stories,' said Barry Meyer, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros Entertainment. 'Working with Universal Orlando Resort, we are confident that we'll be able to provide Harry Potter fans with an incredible experience that upholds the richness of JK Rowling's books and delivers on the authentic detail portrayed in our films.'

And with Academy Award-winning production designer Stuart Craig leading the creative team working on the venture, Rowling herself believes that the park will remain faithful to the spirit of the books. 'The plans I've seen look incredibly exciting' she said, adding 'I don't think fans of the books or film will be disappointed.'

Alternatively, if you can't wait until 2009 for your next dose of the boy wizard, 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' is set to hit screens on June 13.

They really should've put it in Scotland, I mean it would make it way more realistic. It's amazing I went last week but travelling for 9 hours on a plane isn't fun and to be honest it's ours. JK Rowling is from the UK. Americans can't even say Harry Potter properly, it sounds so stupid when they say it, no wonder there are no americans in the film... thankfully.
