'Spy Hunter' helmer revealed

Paul WS Anderson will direct a film adaptation of the decades-old spy game.

Good news and bad news for fans of the 'Spy Hunter' games. The good news is that the project finally has a director confirmed. The bad news is that it's action hack Paul WS Anderson, the British-born helmer of the frankly rubbish game adaptations 'Mortal Kombat', 'Resident Evil', and 'Alien vs Predator'.

Anderson will both direct and co-write the project, which chronicles the adventures of a super spy who works for a secret government agency to bring down a shady terrorist organisation called Nostra. The character's trademark is the Interceptor, a futuristic, gadget-laden car that can transform into a motorcycle, jet ski and submarine.

There's no word yet on who will be cast in the lead, though having recently played the character in videogame 'Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run', Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is the early favourite.
