Christ is Back!
'The Passion' is all set to be re-ignited when one of 2004's biggest films is re-released in 2005.
Dec 16 2004
Christ is all set to rise again following news that 'The Passion of the Christ' will be re-released in time for Easter.
UK distributor Icon has announced that Mel Gibson's hugely successful film will return to cinemas on Good Friday (May 25) next year.
Icon say the re-release is a direct response to interest the company has received from members of the public and various faith-based, non-secular groups who would like to see the film back in cinemas.
And although the initial run will be limited, Icon's president of UK distribution Sally Caplan has hinted that if successful, the film may be re-released annually at the same time of year.
The hugely controversial film, which detailed the hours leading up to the crucifixion of Christ, has already grossed £11.1 million in the UK and more than $370 million in the States, making it one of the most successful films of all time.
Talk of the film's return should therefore make Mel Gibson very happy, as having funded much of the the film himself, he's reportedly made more than $400 million off the back of it, a figure that will only rise if annual re-releases take place.
