Time Out's Films of the Year
What no 'King Arthur'? The Time out team list their three favourite films of the year, and call on readers to vote for their own.
Dec 24 2004
After much soul-searching and with the help of some highly questionable mathematical formulae, Dave Calhoun and the rest of the Time Out film team have compiled a list of their three favourite films of the year.
And the results are:
1. 'Uzak'
Nuri Bilge Ceylan's portrait of male pride and loneliness in modern Istanbul proved popular with just about every Time Out writer.
2. 'The Motorcycle Diaries'
Walter Salles' romantic take on the young Che Guevara's road trip across Latin America with good friend Alberto Granado garnered votes as much for the film's lyrical beauty as it's take on Guevara the man.
3. 'Before Sunset'
Richard Linklater ties up loose ends, reuniting lovers Celine (Julie Delpy) and Jesse (Ethan Hawke) in Paris, while at the same time giving the Time Out team a lump in our collective throats.
To read the rest of the team's review of the year, check out the current Christmas double issue of Time Out London, December 21 2004 – January 5 2005. Issue No.1792/1793.
And if you don't agree with our choices, get on the film forum and get voting for your own personal favourites!
