Golden Raspberry Nominations Announced
The Razzies have revealed their choices for 2004's worst achievements in film, and it's a bad day for both 'Catwoman' and 'Alexander'.
Jan 25 2005
'Catwoman' dominated the nominations for this year's Golden Raspberry Awards – an Oscar spoof that celebrates everything terrible from the last 12 months of film.
Leading the field with a grand total of seven Razzie nominations, including worst picture, worst actress (for Halle Berry) worst supporting actress and actor (Sharon Stone and Lambert Wilson respectively), worst screen couple (for Halle Berry and either Stone or Benjamin Bratt) worst director and worst screenplay, the woeful comic book adaptation is clearly the early 'Raspberry' favourite.
Oliver Stone's historical epic 'Alexander' is hot on the feline's heels though, managing an impressive six nominations, with Oliver Stone, Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie all garnering Razzie nods.
However perhaps the most bizarre of the nominations were those bestowed on 'Fahrenheit 9/11', which received a worst actor nomination for George W Bush, a worst supporting actor nomination for Donald Rumsfeld and worst supporting actress nods for both Britney Spears and Condoleeza Rice.
The Razzie ceremony takes place at the Ivar Theatre, Hollywood, on February 26, and it will be interesting to see if history's greatest warrior can defeat a big, leather-clad cat, as well as whether or not if George W can make it two wins in the space of six months.
