Tarantino to Direct 'CSI'
QT will direct and help write an episode of America's favourite primetime show in April.
Feb 24 2005
Quentin Tarantino has announced his next project, and rather than directing a kung fu epic in Chinese Mandarin (as recently rumoured) or his long-planned 'Dirty Dozen' tribute 'Inglorious Bastards', it seems he'll be returning to TV direction for the first time since a 1994 episode of 'ER'.
'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' executive producer Carol Mendelsohn revealed that Tarantino is a massive fan of the forensic drama, and that he jumped at the chance to direct an episode.
'CSI', which follows a group of forensic investigators as they work the crime scenes of Las Vegas, is America's most watched primetime TV show of recent years.
It has also spawned two popular spin-offs in the shape of 'CSI: Miami' and 'CSI NY', and Mendelsohn says that Tarantino's encyclopaedic knowledge of the shows makes him a perfect helmer.
'He knows everything there is to know about "CSI" and he is into the whole mythology of "CSI", she told the Hollywood Reporter.
And it seems that not only will QT be directing, but he'll also help write the episode: 'Quentin came in a couple of weeks ago,' she continued. 'We had a story meeting with the writers. He had a great idea, and it was so much fun to have him in the room…we are positively giddy.'
Tarantino's episode, which involves a key member of the 'CSI' team finding themselves in mortal danger, will be the current season's finale, and is expected to shoot in April before hitting American screens in May.
