'The Island' trailer hits the net

A big trailer for a big film, the teaser for Michael Bay's 'The Island' is available in all its Quicktime glory.

Mar 21 2005

The trailer for one of the summer's biggest movies – 'The Island' – has just hit the net.

Directed by Michael Bay ('Armageddon', 'Pearl Harbor') and starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson, 'The Island' is a futuristic, sci-fi thriller, and the film's website describes the story as follows:

'Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to 'The Island' – reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet – until he makes a terrible discovery that everything about his existence is a lie. Together with a beautiful fellow resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson), Lincoln makes a daring escape to the outside world he's never known. Now, with the forces of the institute that once housed them relentlessly hunting them down, Lincoln and Jordan engage in a desperate race for their lives.'

'The Island' is due to hit UK cinemas on August 12, and this first glimpse is pretty impressive, with just the right mix of drama, paranoia and Bay's trademark big-budget action set-pieces.
