Is Daniel Craig Bond?
With the start date for 'Casino Royale' edging ever closer, the rumours surrounding who will play the super-spy are gathering momentum.
Apr 6 2005
Confusion continues to reign over the identity of the next James Bond, with Daniel Craig the heir apparent at the moment.
The race has recently been on to cast the new 007, with 'Goldeneye' helmer Martin Campbell all set to direct Ian Fleming's first novel, 'Casino Royale', at the end of the year.
Originally 'Croupier' and 'Closer' star Clive Owen was the hot favourite to have audiences shaken and stirred.
Then Orlando Bloom was the name on everyone's lips, with producers apparently looking for a younger Bond to play the part in the forthcoming film.
And only yesterday several news sites announced that safe-bet Pierce Brosnan was back in the tuxedo for a fifth time.
However, today The Sun is claiming that Daniel Craig has been offered the role, as part of a three-picture deal that will reportedly net him a cool £15 million over the next ten years.
The blond-haired, blue-eyed Craig recently starred in Brit hits 'Layer Cake' and 'Enduring Love', and was last seen in the TV production of Robert Harris's 'Archangel'.
However, Eon Productions, the company behind the Bond films, are refusing to comment, saying they will wait until director Campbell finishes work on 'The Legend of Zorro' before making any announcements.
We wait with bated breath…

- Daniel Craig is bond! What a wonderful trailer. I am excited again to go to the Theater. Casino Royal looks like a movie fit for a bond. Posted on Oct 20 2006 12:39
