Win tickets to 'Machuca' screening
Chile's most successful film hits cinemas on May 6 but you can see this fine film first for free, at a special Time Out screening.
Apr 8 2005
Set against the backdrop of the 1973 coup in Chile, 'Machuca' is the account of a friendship between two boys from opposite worlds in Santiago.
When a privileged school opens its doors to children from the shantytown, Gonzalo, one of the well-off pupils, meets the poor but streetwise Pedro Machuca and the pair of them form a bond.
However, when the political situation escalates and the government falls, their friendship seems doomed.
'Machuca', directed by Andrés Wood, has become the most successful Chilean film ever made and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards.
It opens on May 6, but thanks to Artificial Eye, we have 250 tickets for a preview on Wednesday, April 27 at 6.30pm at the Renoir.
Simply send a first-class SAE, marked 'Machuca' to Time Out Online, 251 Tottenham Court Road, London W1T 7AB by April 21.
The first 125 readers picked out of the hat will each receive a pair of tickets.
