Beyoncé is a 'Dreamgirl'
The new film is an adaptation of the Broadway hit of the same name, which itself was loosely based on the rise of Diana Ross and the Supremes.
Apr 12 2005
Beyoncé Knowles is in negotiations to star in the forthcoming, big-budget Hollywood musical 'Dreamgirls'.
An adaptation of the 1980s Broadway hit that was loosely based on the story of Diana Ross and the Supremes, the film will be directed by Bill Condon, who previously helmed the excellent 'Gods and Monsters' and 'Kinsey'
And the fact that Condon also scripted 2002's Oscar-winning adaptation of 'Chicago' means that he has a good track record with this sort of fare.
Variety reports that the film will retain Tom Eyen's lyrics and Henry Krieger's music, while Condon is currently fine-tuning the script and hopes to start filming in LA towards the end of the year.
Knowles, who made her movie debut with 'Austin Powers in Goldmember' and went on to star in 'The Fighting Temptations', will next be seen opposite Steve Martin and Kevin Kline in 'The Pink Panther'.

- It was as though I had seen this movie before. And, yes, I did, although the name of the movie was "The Five Heatbeats," from 1991. Too many similiarities kept this from being the rave movie that everyone is talking about, except for Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy's talent. Posted on Feb 12 2007 15:31
