All aboard for 'Strangers on a Train' remake

First-time director Noam Murro will attempt to do justice to the 1951 suspense drama.

Apr 12 2005

Hollywood is at it again it seems, with plans afoot to remake 'Strangers on a Train' as the more simply titled 'Strangers'.

First-timer Noam Murro (who was originally attached to 'The Ring Two' before Hideo Nakata took the reins) will direct, while David Seltzer ('The Omen', 'Bird on a Wire') will script.

The classic original was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, who also wrote the previously adapted 'The Talented Mr Ripley' and 'Ripley's Game'.

It told of a chance meeting between two men on a train that leads to the murder of one of their wives.

There's no word yet on casting, but with Murro about to start work on DreamWorks' 'All Families Are Psychotic', it could be a while before this one gets started.
