The Chicago Latino Film Festival

Twenty one this year - old enough for Time Out Chicago to toast its against-all-odds success. ¡Salud!

Apr  7 2005

Chicago is home to some of the country's largest, most vibrant Latino communities, so it's hardly surprising that thier Latin arts scene rocks harder than a Cafe Tacuba guitar jam. But one annual event, the Chicago Latino Film Festival, has gutted it out over two decades to become, arguably, the preeminent Latin art happening in the city. More than 30,000 people attended the fest in each of its last few years, and the audience has proven as multicultural as the programming. This year's fest once again celebrates diversity with 101 Latino and Spanish-language films from 22 countries. To sort it out for you, here's Time Out Chicago's guide to getting the most out of the fest, starting with a look at ten of the most intriguing films on tap.
