'Star Wars' spin-offs announced
It seems that rather than being the end of the saga, 'Episode III - Revenge of the Sith' is just the beginning...
Apr 26 2005
George Lucas recently confirmed rumours that the 'Star Wars' saga will be far from over following the release of 'Episode III – Revenge of the Sith'.
Speaking at a fan convention at the weekend, he explained that the franchise would soon be branching out into television, with both animated and live-action programmes in the works.
The animated show would be a continuation of the successful 'Clone Wars' cartoons, and plans are afoot to make it in 3-D.
This would tie-in with Lucas's plans to release all six films in 3-D in digital theatres over the next few years.
As for the live-action show, Lucas explained that they would take place between Episodes III and IV and would focus on some of the supporting characters from the films; although he added that he wants to get an entire series scripted before going into production.
'We're probably not going to start for about a year,' he told the crowd. 'Like on 'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles', we want to write all the stories for the entire first season at once. I'm going to get it started, then I'll probably step away.'
So however 'Revenge of the Sith' turns out come May 19, one things for sure - we haven't seen the last of Darth and friends just yet.
