Indiana Jones and Rambo sequels on the way

The Indy script has finally been approved by Geroge Lucas and Steven Spielberg, while the new Rambo is like 'Straw Dogs' apparently.

Not one, but two legendary cinema franchises are spluttering back to life this week: Indiana Jones and Rambo.

In the case of the former, it seems that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are finally happy with Jeff Nathanson's script for 'Indy IV'.

Nathanson (who previously worked with Spielberg on 'The Terminal' and 'Catch Me If You Can') is now just waiting for Harrison Ford to approve the screenplay before production can begin next year.

As for Rambo, Sylvester Stallone plans to don bandana and bow and arrow for a forth time, with shooting set to start in Bulgaria in January.

Now settled with a family and 'fully assimilated into the tapestry of America', 'Rambo IV' will see our hero attacked by white supremacists and forced out of retirement to rescue his kidnapped daughter.

Filming will also take place in India and America, and Stallone himself has compared the story to 'Deliverance' and 'Straw Dogs'.

Both scripts are thought to include younger sidekicks for the ageing action icons, suggesting that their may be further life in the old franchises yet.
