'Domino' will still be released despite death

The biopic, which stars Keira Knightley, will hit screens this year in spite of the subject's death.

Jun 30 2005

Tony Scott's new film, 'Domino', will be released later this year, in spite of the fact that the subject of the movie died at her home earlier in the week.

Model-turned-bounty hunter Domino Harvey, who is played by Keira Knightley in the new biopic, was found in her bath on Monday evening by paramedics, with the Cedars-Sinai hospital later pronouncing her dead due to unknown causes.

Rumours then circulated that director Scott would have to re-shoot the ending of the film to incorporate the tragedy, but New Line, the studio behind 'Domino', have decided to plough ahead with their August 19 release date in America, with the film staying in its current state.

As for the UK release, the action-drama is still scheduled to hit screens on November 24, although rest assured we'll keep you posted if that date moves forward.

Speaking of the death, Scott said: 'Domino never failed to surprise me over the last 12 years. She was a free spirit like no other I have ever known.'

Producer Samuel Hadida added: 'We were enormously saddened to hear of Domino's untimely passing. She and I had been conferring about her music to be used in the film only weeks ago. I know I speak for all of us on the movie's cast when I say we enjoyed her presence on set when she visited.

'And although our film is not intended as a biographical piece, hers was the dynamic personality and indomitable spirit that spawned an exciting adventure, not just on screen, but in real life.'
