Michael Bay officially announced as 'Transformers' director
The 'Robots in Disguise' will hit screens in 2007 with 'The Island' director on board
Jul 15 2005
'Armageddon' director Michael Bay has finally confirmed he will take the driving seat for the production of the forthcoming 'Transformers' movie.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are already on-board to write the screenplay, following the success of their collaboration with Bay on 'The Island' which is due for release here on August 12.
With Steven Spielberg involved as executive producer, the film will certainly deliver on the action and special effects front.
Jim Tharp, head of distribution at Dreamworks, is confident of the team's success 'Under the direction of Michael Bay, and with Steven Spielberg executive producing, we know that 'Transformers' is going to be the kind of explosive action movie that is perfect for the height of the summer movie season.'
Originally introduced to TV audiences in 1984, 'Transformers', will feature live-action photography together with CGI to bring the 'robots in disguise' firmly into the 21st century.
The film's release has been pushed back from its original 2006 date to coincide with American Independence Day, July 4, the following year.
