'Fantastic Four' sequel on the way

Chris Evans reveals news of part two while Jessica Alba talks invisibility.

Jul 19 2005

Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Jessica Alba were in town yesterday promoting 'Fantastic Four' and Time Out caught up with them to discuss the future of the franchise.

It seems that all four actors have signed up to make two sequels, and Evans couldn't be more excited at the prospect of playing the Human Torch again in part two.

'I look at it as a second chance – a round two,' he explained at the London press conference for the film. 'You're always your own worst critic, so you see your performance, you see the way the film was structured and what our final product was and know immediately what we could have done to make it better.

'It's exciting to know exactly what I can personally do to bring my game up, and I think everyone involved, not just actors – the writers, the special effects guys – can see what worked and what didn't so the second one can do nothing but improve.'

And in spite of largely negative reviews from critics on both sides of the Atlantic, the film's huge opening weekend in the US means that parts two and three are almost certainties at this point in time.

Time Out also discovered that if they possessed a super-power for the weekend, three of the four would like to fly, while Ioan Gruffudd would like to stretch.

More intriguingly, Jessica Alba also revealed that were she to become invisible in real life, the first thing she'd do is visit the guy's locker room.

On that bombshell, the four left the Q&A to prepare for their premiere, while Time Out tried to shake the image of an invisible Alba watching us change.

'Fantastic Four' hits cinemas nationwide on Friday and is reviewed here.
