Steven Spielberg discusses 'Transformers'
The 'War of the Worlds' director reveals that the big-budget blockbuster will be the first of many.
Jul 25 2005
With Michael Bay officially announced as the director of the 'Transformers' movie (click here for that story), the project's executive producer, Steven Spielberg, has announced a couple of titbits about the forthcoming blockbuster.
Speaking on the film's official website, the 'War of the Worlds' director reveals that he's been a fan of the 'robots in disguise' since their very inception, and that he used to buy the toys, not for his children, but for himself.
Spielberg also says that he hopes the film will be the first of an 'enduring franchise', with several sequels to follow.
Whether or not he'll be in the director's chair for any of them remains to be seen, but for now we'll have to make do with Michael Bay's 'Transformers', which will hit screens in the summer of 2007.

- Spielberg doing the transformers is great. I just hope he will be true to the story. If not, it won't be worth the effort.. Posted on Apr 20 2006 04:45
