Brendan Fraser dives into 'The Bitter Sea'

The American actor will play a British journalist in Roger Spottiswoode's next film.

Brendan Fraser is in negotiations to star in historical drama 'The Bitter Sea' later this year.

The 'Gods and Monsters' star will play George Hogg, a British journalist who rescued scores of children during the Japanese invasion of China in 1937, by taking them on a 1,000km trek to safety.

The $19million project, which also goes by the name 'The Children of Huang Shi', will be directed by 'Tomorrow Never Dies' helmer Roger Spottiswoode.

Casting of the children is currently underway in Beijing and Singapore, while production is scheduled to start at the beginning of November.

Before then, Fraser will be seen in 'Crash', an ensemble drama that stars Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle and Matt Dillon and hits UK screens on August 12.
