Jodie Foster returns to director's chair
The Oscar-winning actress will oversee 'Sugar Kings', a legal drama about a corrupt sugar baron.
Jul 26 2005
Jodie Foster movies are like buses – you wait years for one and then three come along at the same time.
Apart from a brief (yet telling) cameo in 'A Very Long Engagement' last year, Ms Foster has been off our screens for the best part of three years.
Now, however, it seems that the Oscar-winning actress is back with a vengeance.
First up is 'Flightplan', an airborne thriller due out later in the year (click here to see the trailer for that one).
'The Silence of the Lambs' star is also currently working on 'Inside Man', a Spike Lee-directed heist thriller that also features Denzel Washington and Clive Owen and should be released early next year.
And finally, it was announced today that Foster will direct (and may star in) 'Sugar Kings', a legal drama scripted by Daniel Barnz and Ned Zeman.
Based on a Vanity Fair article entitled 'In the Kingdom of Big Sugar', the film will tell the tale of a law school graduate taking a sugar baron to court for his exploitation of migrant workers.
No news of a cast or release date for this one yet, but rest assured we'll keep you posted.
