Could it be 'A Good Year' for Russell Crowe

The Australian actor is in talks to star in a romantic comedy for director Ridley Scott.

Jul 28 2005

Russell Crowe is all set to re-team with director Ridley Scott on a gentle comedy about French wine.

The Hollywood heavyweights, who last collaborated on the sword-and-sandals epic 'Gladiator', are in talks to adapt Peter Mayle's hugely successful novel, 'A Good Year'.

Marc Klein ('Serendipity') has already written the script, which in turn has been re-written by Jez and Tom Butterworth ('Birthday Girl').

'A Good Year' tells the tale of Max Skinner, a city whiz-kid whose life is turned upside down when he loses his job.

In response, Skinner moves to his late uncle's 18th-century French chateau, where he attempts to make a living from the property's failing vineyard.

Crowe is in talks to play the lead role, while Scott is already said to be scouting locations in Provence.

Before then, the Oscar-winning actor will be seen in boxing biopic 'Cinderella Man', which hits UK screens on September 9.
