Scorsese editor talks film at the NFT
See film editor Thelma Schoonmaker in conversation at the NFT
Aug 18 2005
Thelma Schoonmaker, is in London this weekend, Saturday, August 20, and will be putting in an appearance at the NFT to discuss the work of her late filmmaking husband, the great Michael Powell ('A Matter of Life and Death').
The veteran editor is perhaps better known for her award-winning work on Martin Scorsese's films, and has picked up Best Editing Oscars for both 'Raging Bull' and 'The Aviator'.
However, since Powell's death in 1990, Schoonmaker has done extensive work preserving his films and archival material, as well as helping edit both volumes of his autobiography.
The event, Thelma Schoonmaker-Powell in Conversation, will be hosted by David Thompson as part of the Michael Powell season at the NFT, which runs until August 31.

Time Out has talked to Schoonmaker and that interview will appear, in full, at Timeout.com very soon.
If you haven’t already made plans for the weekend, then head down to the National Film Theatre for what will surely prove to be a real treat for all fans of cinema.
