New York Film Fest line-up

Full line-up for 43rd New York Film Festival annouced

Aug 19 2005

The full line-up for the 43rd New York Film Festival has been unveiled with a number of titles that immediately catch attention.

Opening the festival will be George Clooney's much-anticipated, second directorial outing, 'Good Night. And, Good Luck'.

Co-written by Clooney, the film is a political drama, which follows the true story of journalist Edward R Murrow's battle against Senator Joseph McCarthy's communist witch hunts of the 1950s.

David Strathairn as Murrow will be joined by a cast that includes Robert Downey Jr, Patricia Clarkson, Jeff Daniels as well as Clooney himself.

Neil Jordan's new picture, 'Breakfast on Pluto', has been selected as the festival's centrepiece film

An adaptation of Pat McCabe's novel of the same name, the movie is about a transvestite cabaret singer in '60s and '70s London and stars Cillia Murphy and Liam Neeson.

Also screening will be Steven Sodebergh's 'Bubble', which is to be the first of six films the director is making for 2929 Entertainment which are to be released in theatres, on DVD and on TV at the same time.

The festival runs from September 23 to October 9 at New York's Lincoln Center and for a full list of films showing click here.
