Raindance line-up announced
With 'Night Watch', 'Guy X' and 'The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael' screening at the London festival.
Sep 7 2005
The line-up for the Raindance Film Festival 2005 has been announced, and it looks to be a particularly strong year.
Jeff Feuerzeig's award-winning documentary 'The Devil and Daniel Johnston' (reviewed here) will open proceedings on September 28, while Jonathan Jakubowicz's Venezuela-set crime thriller 'Secuestro Express' closes celebrations on October 9.
In between, Raindance will host all manner of screenings, panel discussions, director masterclasses and even one worldwide premiere: Johnny Martin's 'The Gingerbread Man'.
Other films screening at the event include Saul Metzstein's 'Guy X', Stuart Gordon's 'Edmond', Fruit Chan's 'Dumplings' and Scott Coffey's 'Ellie Parker'.
The festival will also give Londoners their first chance to see controversial pair 'Battle in Heaven' and 'The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael', plus the heavily hyped Russian fantasy epic 'Night Watch'.
Speaking of the 2005 festival, Raindance producer Oli Harbottle said: 'It's probably our strongest line-up. As we get more submissions, we can afford to choose just the very best rather than filling slots.'
He continued: 'For us to be able to show films like 'Night Watch' and 'Secuestro Express' shows that the industry is taking Raindance more seriously.'
