A heads-up to all fans of Asian cinema – Firecracker Showcase 2005 kicks off tomorrow (September 8), with over 40 films screening over the course of the festival's 11-day run.

Featuring an eclectic range of films from one of the most dynamic filmmaking regions in the world, the showcase takes in movies from China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, The Philippines, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Opening with the UK premiere of Huo Jianqi's visually stunning romance 'Nuan', Firecracker continues with such disparate efforts as 'Howl's Moving Castle', 'A Bittersweet Life' and an action-packed Sonny Chiba triple bill, before closing with a screening of Ryoo Seung-Wan's gripping boxing drama 'Crying Fist'.
