'Oldboy' director to make sci-fi romance
Park Chan-Wook reveals that he is about to start work on genre pic 'I Am a Cyborg'.
Sep 9 2005
Time Out favourite Park Chan-Wook has announced his next project – a sci-fi romance entitled 'I Am a Cyborg'.
The uncompromising director, whose 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance' (the third part of his revenge trilogy following 'Sympathy for Mr Vengeance' and 'Oldboy') is currently wowing the crowds at festivals worldwide, will start work on the film early next year.
Set in a mental asylum, it will revolve around a young woman who believes she is a robot, and follow her blossoming romance with a male patient at the hospital.
There's no news on casting yet, but the director also revealed that once he's finished 'I Am a Cyborg', he'll start work on an as-yet-untitled vampire movie.
