Carrey catches 'The Number 23'
The rubber-faced funnyman is set to star in an intriguing new thriller for director Joel Schumacher.
Sep 22 2005
The thought of Jim Carrey and Joel Schumacher reuniting should send chills up the spine of any film fan, as the last time the pair worked together was on the risible 1995 summer dud 'Batman Forever'.
Fear not, however, as the signs look good for 'The Number 23', a quirky thriller that brings them together for a second (and hopefully far superior) time.
In the film, Carrey plays a man obsessed with an obscure book that he believes is describing his life. The tome, titled 'The Number 23', ends with a murder, so Carrey must solve its puzzle before he himself ends up dead.
The ingenious script, written by Fernley Phillips, is part comedy and part thriller, with the number 23 woven throughout the plot, hence the name.
The film is scheduled to start shooting in November, meaning it should hit UK screens sometime next summer.
And once 'The Number 23' is in the can, Carrey will move straight on to 'Used Men', the clone comedy he is making with Ben Stiller and director Jay Roach (click here for more info on that one).
