Joss Whedon is a 'Goner'
The 'Serenity' director discusses a new fantasy project and his forthcoming 'Wonder Woman' movie.
Sep 23 2005
Joss Whedon has announced plans to write and direct 'Goner', a fantasy thriller for Universal Pictures.
Whedon, the creator of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and writer-director of forthcoming sci-fi action pic 'Serenity', will start work on the film either before or after he has completed 'Wonder Woman' for Warner Brothers.
Speaking of 'Goner', Whedon told Variety: 'It's the story of a young woman's journey that involves a great deal of horror, and some heroics.
'It's certainly darker than 'Serenity', and there are a lot of left turns along the way' he continued. 'It is something I had in mind for a while, and it just poured out of me when I finished my film.'
And speaking of 'Wonder Woman', his big screen adaptation of the DC Comics favourite, Whedon said: 'I was given license to purely make it my own and yet she is already an iconic Amazon princess. 'Goner' has some similarities, but the heroines could not be more different, and the story is a bit more intimate and less complicated than 'Wonder Woman'.'
And while there are no details yet regarding when either film will start shooting, the eagerly anticipated 'Serenity' hits UK screens on October 7, and is previewed here.
