'Broken Flowers' hits the top spot at the London box office

The only new entries are sequels 'Saw II' and 'The Legend of Zorro'.

Nov  1 2005

The two films at the top of the London chart swapped places this weekend, with bittersweet comedy 'Broken Flowers' dethroning family favourite 'Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit' and hitting the top spot for the first time.

Blood-stained horror sequel 'Saw II' came in at number three, while the slightly less eagerly anticipated sequel, 'The Legend of Zorro', was a new entry at number four.

The chart throws up more family fare with 'Nanny McPhee' and 'Tim Burton's Corpse Bride' at five and six respectively, while arms dealing drama 'Lord of War' drops from five to seven.

At the bottom of the chart, 'Pride & Prejudice' and 'Serenity' hold firm at places eight and nine, while former Time Out film of the week 'A History of Violence' looks to be on its last legs at ten.

Next week, the big openers are 'Elizabethtown' and 'The Brothers Grimm', although critically acclaimed smaller films like 'Murderball' and 'The Beat That My Heart Skipped' could yet give them a run for their money.
