Scarlett Johansson cast as a gladiatrix
The starlet will play a fearless warrior in the forthcoming epic 'Amazon'.
Nov 7 2005
Screen siren Scarlett Johansson is to star in 'Amazon', a big budget blockbuster set in 200 BC.
The script is currently being written by Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain, (who also wrote the forthcoming Viking pic 'Outlander'), although there's no word yet as to who will direct.
The film will pit the 'Lost in Translation' star against the army that destroyed her homeland, and as well as featuring some epic action sequences, the story will also include a love story for the young actress.
Speaking of the project, Blackman said 'This will be a movie that falls between 'The Wild Bunch' and 'The Seventh Samurai'.'
Before then, Johansson will be seen in the Woody Allen films 'Match Point' and 'Scoop' and Brian De Palma's 'The Black Dahlia'.
