Ice Cube builds his dream house

The rapper will star with Thomas Haden Church in a remake of a Cary Grant classic.

Nov 30 2005

'Sideways' star Thomas Haden Church and rapper Ice Cube may seem like an unlikely double act, but the two are teaming up for a forthcoming comedy remake.

'Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House', will be based on the Cary Grant classic of the same name (reviewed here), and will see Cube play the titular Blandings, a businessman who leaves his apartment in the city for a big house in the suburbs.

All does not go according to plan at the new home however, with Church playing the contractor who takes on the challenge of renovating the property.

Written by Hank Nelken ('Saving Silverman'), the remake will be directed by Steve Carr ('Daddy Day Care') and is due to go into production in upstate New York in May.

Before then, Church will be seen as Sandman in 'Spider-Man 3'.
